We are also proud to announce that we are a qualifier to represent the State of Florida in the Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational BBQ. Our 2007 Grand Champion was sent to the Jack! For all the info go to:

http://www.lynchburgtenn.com/jack_daniels_bar-b-q.html. This is the hardest to get invitation in the BBQ world! Our 2008 Grand Champion will be entered into the State Lottery, along with other State Qualifiers, (very few, maybe 2-4 others?), and the winner will get the invite.

Recently, a Proclamation recognizing the 2007 Smoke on the Water BBQ Competition was made by Senator J.D. Alexander...

WHEREAS, the Citrus Center Boys and Girls Clubs will present their next Smoke on the Water BBQ Competition on Feb 9th and 10th, 2007, and

WHEREAS, numerous public-spirited businesses and groups have
participated in these annual competitions to help raise money for the Citrus Center Boys and Girls Clubs, and

WHEREAS, the Citrus Center clubs serve more than 600 children per day after school and during the summers, providing wholesome, educational,
and safe recreational opportunities, and

WHEREAS, the proceeds of the 2007 Smoke on the Water competition will go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of East Polk County, located in Lk Wales, Haines City, and Winter Haven, and

WHEREAS, the Smoke on the Water BBQ Competitions are outstanding community events in a very worthy cause, NOW, THEREFORE,

I, Senator J.D. Alexander of Florida Senate District 17 do hereby
commend the Citrus Center Boys and Girls Clubs and the citizens and businesses of Polk County for their participation in the annual Smoke on the Water BBQ Competition.

Since 1955 Citrus Center Boys & Girls Clubs have enriched the lives of local boys and girls, providing a safe after-school environment in which kids can get help with their homework, participate in sports, learn respect for property and the rights of others, and simply have fun. Currently we serve 600 boys and girls each day at our three locations in East Polk County!

They benefit daily from a trained and caring professional staff and volunteers, and develop skills and reasons to avoid other more dangerous pastimes.

Our primary mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The Citrus Center Boys & Girls Clubs has offered young people what they need and want most – adults who respect and listen to them, a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves, and interesting constructive activities that channel youthful energy into challenging pursuits.
